The Legend of William Tell
In the early 1300's, Tell resisted the new rule of the Hapsburg Empire and was arrested by Gessler, who planned to execute Tell and his son. Gessler allowed Tell one chance to use his crossbow to shoot an apple placed on his son's head to save their lives...Tell succeeded. Gessler was infuriated and ordered Tell to life in prison. Tell escaped and assassinated Gessler, leading to a national rebellion which formed the Old Swiss Confederacy.
